If he got it anywhere, it was probably from sparring. He really only had 1 fight where he took much damage at all.
Yes. He should sue his sparring partners.
āThe general census was since they get knocked out itās safer than boxing, since boxing allows fighters to continue after a knockdown and possible concussion. We now know that bs.ā
I donāt think itās bs. Itās obviously true. In mma u drop me and u pound me out or choke me and thats far safer then giving me a 10 count and starting again.
If they really wanted to stop brain damage theyād get rid of gloves. Bare knuckle causes more bleeding and more stops from it so less brain trauma.
And it makes for more broken hands so most guys are cautious about hitting the skull. Especially men like me with frail little hands (despite the bowling pin in my pants) when I flirted with bare knuckle I slapped alot in grappling scenarios and slaps hurt but they didnāt scramble my brains like punches.
MOST of all of theyād get rid of rounds and stand-ups.
The breaks rounds lead to give guys time to collect themselves but they let explosive guys get their power back.
And it severely limits the effectiveness of grapping.
The ufc added them which immediately led to guys like mo smith getting KOs. Which was the whole point,
Prior to rounds/stand ups the ufc was 90% ground rather than maybe 75% standup like it is now.
If mma was still mostly wrestlejitsu fighters would sparr lessā¦, where most brain damage occurs.
And thatās another reason I still say boxers get more brain damage than mma fighters. Anytime youāre kicking my leg youāre not punching me.
A couple of the long time mma guys I know have slurred speech, delayed social reactions and the blank faced look that suggests brain damage. MOST the longtime boxers I know have some of these signs.
