Mighty Mouse was ‘Fucking Gutted’ After Realizing how Underpaid He Was in UFC

Pay females fighters more?
Pay the wnba players more?

No

You pay the fighters who draw the fans.

How is this hard to understand?

Regardless of ticket sales MM is one of the best to ever do it. He absolutely deserves a hall of fame spot in all the MMA history books.

Happily surprised how agreed upon this subject we are. I came here to post, but it has already been said. Reminds me of a local promoter that used to deal with fighters that believed they were worth more. He’d hand them 50-100 tickets and say, “let’s see how many butts you bring to these seats.”

I think it’s pretty easy to understand why a champion should be paid a lot of money.

People get paid based on what they bring in. 125ers arguably hurt the company. They go to decisions way more and the division just doesn’t produce stars.
Ben Kingsley was a better after than Arnold in the 80’s-90’s and he won awards but no one’s ever said
“Hey you wanna go catch that new Ben movie?”

I think I recall Mighty Mouse basically saying this same thing on Rogan.

I’ve always been impressed how much the ufc actually cares who wins. At the integrity they do have.

If I was Dana I’d have signed guys like Crazy Horse Bennet to fight on every card. Who cares if he’s lost 10 in a row? The crowd would love him.

This is why I think no PFL or bellator ever catches up with the ufc. They follow the ufc model of getting good fighters. Often great but boring fighters the ufc got rid of. Instead of just signing 10-10 fat guys with no concept of defense.
Brand yourself apart of the ufc by not even pretending to get the best fighters. Just get maniacs and tell them
“Don’t care if u win. You lose and you will stay around if you lose via something cool.”

Sorry but the tangent but I’ve been going off on tangents since before the 3rd grade when Mrs lambert made my write “I’ll try to stay focused” on the chalk board 100x

Is t it crap like this that unions work or is it more a good agent?

Plenty of champions in the wnba.
Plenty of female champions who fight in the ufc.

They aren’t getting paid bank either.

You missed the point about starting the crowd.

Did MM draw a crowd?

Im actually a fan of MM but I’m also not a brain damaged nut hugger. I understand why he didn’t get paid

You’re not underpaid if you agree to the payment. You’re simply being paid what you agreed to be paid.

I quote x amount for a piece of work and I later find out that someone would’ve paid double? Oh well. I agreed to the compensation I was given.

Terrible analogy.

  • imagine if you only had 1 customer
  • Imagine that same customer preventing you from working with other customers
  • That same customer resold your work by 5 times and pocketed the rest
  • You can’t negotiate because you have bills to pay and this is your only skill
  • Other similar industries pay 10 more than your salary because they have a union or have a free market to work with others

Does that seem fair? That would be flat out exploitation and would be considered illegal by most labor laws by state or country.

Btw, I’m not a commie leftist.

And you call mine a terrible analogy?

There are plenty of fight orgs.

His willingly signing with one that restricted other options doesn’t somehow undo that.

Further, none of what you said has anything to do with my point:

The partni can’t believe is how he didn’t figure it out until well after. He also says he doesn’t know his sponsorship figures? Seriously?

If it were me I’d know down to the dollar what I was making every step of the way. I’d assume any half intelligent person keeps on top of those things. He never struck me as a dumbass either.

In your example how does the customer prevent you from working with other customers? Did you sign a contract?

What exactly is the argument that the side arguing MM got underpaid trying to make?

He was underpaid because of his accomplishments?

But that’s not how it works.

Do they understand that?

It might be a “feelings” thing but we all know that part so fuck off with that.

He didn’t draw a crowd. It’s that Simple.

Did the promoter do much to promote him?

The issue is how the ufc has classified their fighters.

They are either sub contractors or employees.

There are different labor laws for both. (I have an HR degree in labor law)

The ufc treats them as both and exploits them in different ways.

If the fighters are employees, they can form a union, strike and get pension, paid health care, etc…

The ufc legally classifies them as sub contractors while treating them like employees, so they can’t get unionized. They should be able to play the free market and fight in other organizations without the permission of the UFC.

As for Mighty Mouse, he should have been able to fight in other organizations and terminate his contract at any time but he is an employee of the ufc.

It’s no different if the ufc hired a bunch of plumbers and told them they couldn’t work for another business. There are different labor laws that deal with trades and subcontractors.

Responding to @Altofsky post, not going to type this out twice.

On the other hand Mighty Mouse was overpaid in the ufc. No one gave a shit about him but he wasn’t allowed to test the free market like an actual sub contractor.

The ufc is practically breaking labor laws in different states and countries which is the point I am making.

Roland is a sleazeball

Those plumbers agreed to the terms.

They also agreed to their compensation.

Which means they’re not underpaid.

They’re just being paid what they agreed to be paid.
