Sean O'Malley to undergo hip surgery following UFC 306 title loss to Merab...
Sean O’Malley shed light on an injury he suffered well before his title-fight loss to Merab Dvalishvili at UFC 306.
Sean O’Malley is once again sticking to the “undefeated” gimmick following UFC 306.
O’Malley put the UFC Bantamweight Championship at stake against Merab Dvalishvili in the main event of UFC 306. Things didn’t go “Suga’s” way, as Dvalishvili stuck to him like glue for five rounds. While O’Malley had some moments of success, such as a stinging body shot late in the fight, it simply wasn’t enough to maintain his gold on the 135-pound gold.
“Suga State athletic commission BREAKING NEWS Suga won 2 of the last 3 rounds!! Fight Over turned. Suga won!”
As one would expect, O’Malley has gotten some backlash over the social media post. The “Suga” show had also claimed to be undefeated despite being stopped by Marlon “Chito” Vera back in 2020. O’Malley may have avenged that defeat via one-sided unanimous decision, but the fact remains he has two losses on his pro MMA record.
How O’Malley rebounds from losing the UFC bantamweight title will be interesting to follow. With that said, don’t expect “Suga” to return to the Octagon anytime soon. O’Malley has said that he needs time to heal from his injuries, and he recently told Adin Ross that he will undergo surgery in October for a torn labrum.
O’Malley said he suffered the injury 10 weeks before his showdown with Dvalishvili. The time frame for O’Malley’s return isn’t known at this time. BJPenn.com will keep you posted with the latest updates on “Suga” Sean O’Malley.
“Zero excuses.”
“I tore something before the fight and now I’m getting surgery.”
I pretty much called this in the fight night thread before the fight started haha. Any time O’Malley has looked suspect in the cage (win or lose), he always says post fight that he’s been injured and couldn’t train, so that’s why he couldn’t get a finish or got beat haha. Usually he says he hurt his ribs though haha
And the one time he got injured during the fight because of his opponent’s offence, he “didn’t” lose.

That’s why Aljo never has to fight again.

Sean O’Malley shed light on an injury he suffered well before his title-fight loss to Merab Dvalishvili at UFC 306.
The former UFC bantamweight champion will get hip surgery early next month and is expected to be out of commission anywhere from six months to a year. O’Malley revealed the news in an interview with popular streamer Adin Ross following his championship loss at UFC 306.
“I have surgery on Oct. 3,” O’Malley said. “I tore my left labrum in my hip. That’s the only reason I’m going to be out for so long. This surgery should only take two months to come back from, then a couple of months recovery, so a year is a long time. It could be six to eight months. But you never know. … UFC won’t be the same without me.”
O’Malley (18-1 MMA, 10-1 UFC) said he suffered the injury about 10 weeks ago but still went through his training camp for his second title defense in Las Vegas this past Saturday. “Suga” went on to lose a dominant decision to Merab Dvalishvili in a performance UFC CEO Dana White called “flat.”
The loss to Dvalishvili snapped a seven-fight unbeaten streak for the 29-year-old O’Malley. It was also his second career defeat, as he had only lost to Marlon Vera, a defeat he avenged at UFC 299 in March.
UFC won’t be the same without me.
I had no idea Jack Merridew was O’Malley!

This is the same thing that happens when someone lies on their resume. They say they can manage projects and handle multiple projects and clients, understands everything under the IT cloud. Are very smart and pass our onboarding process. Gets an early push from management, then 6 months later freaks out and stresses about billing 30 fucking hours in a month. Then checks into a mental hospital.

Don’t forget they’ll always have their biggest star, Dana.
Glad that’s over.
He says we won’t have to see him for another 10-12 months.
Good luck in rehab you curly-haired loser.
