305 Judge Gets Fired Mid-Event after Handing in Worst Scorecard in UFC History

Tai Tuivasa suffered his fifth straight loss at UFC 305 last night (Sat., Aug. 17, 2024) as Jairzinho Rozenstruik dominated the fan-favorite Heavyweight for three rounds to win an insane split decision from inside RAC Arena in Perth, Australia.
The fight was mostly forgettable and by far the worst fight on the pay-per-view, but it came with a controversy.

Rozenstruik clearly defeated Tuivasa; however, MMA judge Howie Booth saw it differently. He scored the fight 30-27 for Tuivasa.

Sports reporter Kevin Iole tweeted that Booth was scheduled to judge the co-main event between Kai Kara-France and Steve Erceg but was “pulled” from the card. UFC broadcaster Jon Anik confirmed that report and announced on the broadcast that Booth had been removed from his duties.

That was great stuff. I wonder if its going to influence judges to stay away from giving all rounds to 1 fighter though. If you always hand in 29-28 scores, you will never be that blatantly on the wrong side of the right score haha

Where’s Cecil Peoples when you need him

Scoring criteria and judging has been a huge issue literally forever. I think an overhaul of the scoring system is the best solution, but short of that more training and holding these assholes accountable is about all that will help things.

Kai went ahead without the intel that the judge was pulled and took fate into his own hands.

Would that give Rozenstruik the opportunit to challenge for a NC or overturn? Say, “look they pulled him adter my fight. He clearly.fucked up.”

Shocking that Cliff_Booths dad is also a fucking idiot

Thankfully Rozenstruik still won the split decision, so he doesn’t have to try to appeal the decision. Had he lost, he certainly could try his luck with a commission, but you never really know what they’ll do after the fact.

This was awesome.

I wonder if some bookies somewhere just lost their edge?

Yeah, possibly…I mentioned this last night on the event thread, but this is a prime example of a fight that betting Integrity should be looking at

My bad dude. I didn’t watch the fights, and thought the decision went the other way, I went back and looked at article again. My reading comprehension was not good the first time.

Thanks for answering
