Cro Cop was already slowing down a bit in Pride.
Some guys get old overnight.
It also didn’t help that he went from a ring where he was every bit an elite ring-general, to a cage.
Fedor was still feared when he started in Strikeforce and he hadn’t lost. Doesn’t mean he was at his best.
He both lost and beat Randleman. I think Randleman takes Poatan down easily and beats him.
Beat Josh Barnett on the ground, a guy who likely would dominate Poatan on the ground.
Beat Peter Aerts, Jerome LeBanner, Mark Hunt, and many more true elite heavyweight kickboxers. I dont think Aleks ever fought anyone of that size and caliber, correct me if Im wrong.
Im a huge Poatan fan, he’s my favorite UFC fighter ever at this point. But to see he beats a prime Crocop, we really would have to see.
I posted the Randleman gif pretty playfully, but the truth is that Cro Cop has a lot of losses that came from standing strikes. Fedor out struck him. Randleman put him away. Gonzaga shut off his lights. Brandon Schaub. He was outstruck by JDS and quit while standing on his feet. He was KO’d by Frank Mir. Roy Nelson knocked him down in a striking exchange and then followed it up with ground n pound for the finish.
Poatan has only been outstruck by Israel who is a very elite striker. Poatan also TKOd Israel in their other fight. Poatan has a way cleaner track record than Cro Cop in MMA.
