Scott Coker and Gilbert Melendez’s joint venture had its 2nd event this past weekend in San Jose. Here’s a little recap

PRO portion of the Card

Middleweight MMA Main Event: Daniel Compton (9-3) vs. Joaquin Lopez (9-4)

Bantamweight MMA Co-Main Event: Bobby Seronio III (4-0) vs. Carlos Murta (3-2)

Bantamweight Muay Thai Bout: Jessica-Rose Clark (6-0) vs. TBA

Strawweight Muay Thai Bout: Desiree Wodicker (5-0) vs. TBA

Middleweight MMA Bout: Mauricio Alonzo (13-8) vs. Joe Kropschot (5-3)

Flyweight MMA Bout: Hussain Bakhsh Safari (7-3) vs. Mason Hartshom (4-1)

Welterweight MMA Bout: Demetri Georgiades (1-0) vs. Dupree Stewart (1-0)

  • Fights included Pro/Amateur MMA and Pro/Amateur Muay Thai

  • Most of the Card was like Coker’s Strikeforce and Bellator Prelims/Postlims where they consist mainly of Local gyms/fighters and less experienced fighters

  • There were a few UFC/Bellator/LFA vets though

  • Did not see ALTA adds playing all over like last event had

  • Improvement in pacing and most everything over the 1st event

Mauricio Alonso who KO’d Josh Koscheck in Bellator and then lost a 3 Round Decision to current Bellator MW Champ Johnny Eblen fought.

He lost by 2nd Rub and retired. He is 44 years old and had not fought since that Eblen Dec 3 years ago but got a nice send off in front of his students

Is that the SAP?

Last MMA event I went to was there, it was walking distance from where I lived but I fell asleep.

It’'s at the Tech CU arena down the road from the SAP

You can tell they are trying to start smaller than Strikeforce cause Strikeforce went straight to SAP which is much bigger venue but this promotion is starting smaller and more local which is probably a good idea and the fight card reflects it

Thought the lower bowl looked small…is that where SJSU play basketball or something?

A small packed venue for fights is awesome…from my experience at the Tachi Palace…those fights were a blast
