‘If Anybody is to Blame for Fighter Pay, it’s the Fighters , and I’m One of Them’ - Immortal

I agree with this. Back in the day, it was easier to follow the roster because the guys were fighting constantly. I feel like clay guida and Diego Sanchez were on every fucking card for 2 years. Obviously not, but the familiarity was there and fighters were making good money with the multiple fights per year

I’m just saying its more complex than fighting for a higher rev split. They can do that but it wont give them much more money.

Higher min pay means lower pay for the top guys.

Not saying they shouldn’t ask for those things and fight for them…

But whats going to get them paid the most is fighting more frequently and if they brought back sponsors. Both of those will have much larger impact.

That is an excellent point. That was a real Jew move by Dana to take away wearable endorsements by the fighters, a lot of the fighters made more wearing shit into the octagon and I liked it better. The Reebok and Venom seems so sterile.

I was talking to a guy that wanted to have Nick Diaz weak a cap with his logo on it, it was like 8 to 20k, I forget

Lots of fighters were earning 4x their fighter pay in endorsements. Something like that anyway.

Do u Think a high level athlete can be in shape 12mths of the yr. Other pro sports have an off-season. It’s fanciful to think an mma athlete can fit a 4 wk training camp, plus fight week and then a down week. So that’s 6weeks per fight. Not including recovery for injuries, then 8 fights a yr is pushing it. Even 6 is a stretch

They fight that frequently coming up. fight camps will evolve either shorten or combine.

Other sports would probably have different training and other methods if they only competed once a year too but they figured it out.

As long as they’re all competing the samish number of times a year its fair.

Pro boxers for the most part don’t get paid well either.
Only the elite do.
It’s the fight game
