I’m watching Karo vs GSP and Mike just said “GSP walks around at 180 to 185, he’s got a very large frame for 170”
My god how far weight cutting has gone by now
GSP would be the smallest WW on the roster if he were still fighting.

I haven’t seen that fight in forever. How did Karo do?

GSP took him down early and Karo locked up a kimura then straight armlock, and had GSP in serious trouble for a minute or two. GSP out struck him in the scond then took him down and beat him up with elbows. Karo threw some subs up a few times but never came close to anything.
Third round he had another one of those throw to straight armbar moves, had GSP fully on his back with it, insane that GSP survived that. Judo guys help me out with the name of that move. GSP reverses and gets him down again then gets tired from punching Karo and they get stood up, spend the last minute striking and GSP lands some good shots.
Aside from those two submission attempts, GSP dominated him standing and on the ground.

So his best moments were the sub attempts in the first.
I think I’ve watched all of GSP’s fights. This is his UFC debut and just watching this fight it’s pretty clear just how special GSP is. They didn’t do a ton of striking but just from the exchanges they had you can see how hight level he is there, then he takes down Karo and dominates him for 12+ minutes doing a ton of damage. I wonder how many GOAT list fighters looked that special in their UFC debut.

Those and the sub attempt in the third were pretty much his only good moments. He barely threw any strikes when they were standing and when he couldn’t get ahold of GSP, he had nothing. No shame in losing to the GOAT

Karo would’ve never beaten GSP at any point of their careers anyways. He was too one dimensional.

Karo’s first fight when he was `6yo was against Sean Sherk. Imagine being a 16yo kid and fighting Sean for your first fight?
