Exactly. Even though Taylor looked good in his next fight vs Aaron Davis, he was never the same fighter again. The punishment he took from Chavez ruined him.

They couldn’t have been any more dissimilar to each other. Leaving skin colour/race out of it (I don’t any us have any interest in that) - Chavez was from the dusty streets of Mexico, Taylor was an Olympic gold medalist. Chavez was a methodical boxer-puncher with bone shuddering power, Taylor was a fast and flashy pure boxer with little power. Chavez didn’t ever seem to swell or bleed, Taylor bruised and bled easily. Chavez was almost impossible to hurt, Taylor didn’t take a shot anywhere near as well.

Ultimately Taylor I think just wanted to prove he was a Philly fighter and tried to stay inside with Chavez too much. He even tried to stay inside and break Chavez with liver shots. Young and foolish and it cost him. Horrible what happened to him afterwards.
