I don’t think Tommy would have ever beaten a motivated Mercer but he was caught off guard in that fight by Ray’s chin. He unloaded assuming he could finish him and Ray just walked through it. He landed multiple shots that would have KOed just about anyone and Ray didn’t blink. Ridiculous.

Mercer had incredible attributes but no discipline. I remember when he was getting ready for the Lewis fight - one of his team said they knew Ray was taking it seriously because he was jogging laps around his hotel room.
