Velasquez vs Lesnar

LOL

Except that’s not what happened. Brock stayed in the fight and won

I don’t like brock and wanted carwin to win. But saying brock folded is wrong. He got rocked and could have folded but stayed around and got the W

He folded. The ref not stoping it like they stop
99% of these fight and people say “no way he was getting out of that” afterward is the reason he won. By any other fight standards he lost and was TKO’d

Standards of today, sure. But that’s why the ufc sucks now. Get dropped once and don’t fully recover instantly and the fights over.

It’s been that way for years and years. It’s a way for them or the sports books to control outcomes, and with the big money involved in gambling on fights, it’s no surprise.

You could see it that way. I’m going with my assessment though lol

I have to agree.

It’s not like Brock was saved by the bell or anything. :person_shrugging: At the end of the round, Brock had Carwin pressed against the cage kneeing his legs.

Nobody else had even made it to that bell yet.

Except the way I saw it is what happened

He got rocked
. Stayed in the fight and ended up winning

There is no alternate reality.

Ref “should have” stopped the fight?
Why? Brock ended up coming back to win?

I don’t like brock at all

But he didn’t fold. He took a beating and didn’t tap/ fold / get KO’d and he came back to win

Was he knocked out?
But he did “get out of it”

I like Brock, he crumpled and Carwin took his foot off the gas pedal and Brock came back. Brock’s an excellent hammer but if you can apply equal or greater pressure these bulls break.

Carwin ran out of gas punching Brock’s arms. Wonder if in hindsight the better move would have been to simply back up and let Brock stand back up. Carwin certainly could have rocked him again. What an exciting fight that was.

crazy fight. We need another athletic monster in the UFC again.

How many fights are stopped on the ground with a legit knock out? How many of those fights would be different if they let the guy curl up in a ball and take 700 punches?

You stop a fight when the guy on the bottom is not defending AnD taking damage. That obviously wasn’t case. He wasn’t taking damage because he got up and finished the fight with his own W

Covering in a ball is not often considered defending and is how literally damn near every TKO is stopped. Lesnar fight was given more leeway than almost any TKO scenario on the ground I’ve ever seen.

But he wasn’t taking damage. If he was he wouldn’t have been able to get up and finish carwin. A fight is a fight. And brock took carwins best. Stayed in and got the W.

There is no alternate facts right
there wasn’t a bad standup - illegal shot etc. brock took a pounding and then turned it around and finished the fight himself

Agreed, but if that fight takes place today carwin gets the tko win. Same for pat barry vs kongo

“Then he wouldn’t have been able to get up and finish Carwin”

Okay then almost every other TKO is null n void using this logic. “You can lay on the ground and get punched over and over and over and over but since you’re in the fetal position, we won’t stop it THIS time, and the other fighter who is used to fights being stopped for this exact reason can punch himself out (but cant just kick you in the face and end it instantly in any non ufc scenario) and we will let you take brain damage until the bell”

If Carwin knew they were going to just let him
Curl up in a pile of jacks links and gloves and take 152 punches, then get a chance to recover, he likely does something different. You know, because that’s how almost every other fight that ended up in this situation ended in history.

He should have done something different. Like do damage
usually they stop the fight to protect the fighter from taking more damage.
He obviously wasn’t taking enough because A. The fight wasn’t stopped and B. He got up and eventually won
