Joaquin Buckley’s another one of those. Not as skilled as Rountree though. He’s on this card too. Always wanted to see him and Krause get it on when they had that feud.

You can tell Dana loves these kinds of fighters. Gotta have those guys that provide highlight KO’s, but also get KO’d themselves so they don’t build too much value in “winning”. Unless he thinks you’re REALLY marketable, then he’ll help you get the belt with favorable matchups.

It seems fitting that you bring up Jesus Christ who got executed by Jews for living a perfectly lawful life. Carry on.

I dunno man. Ive trained at two muay thai gyms and both taught/trained this kick. It was called something else, though.

Why is it called an oblique kick these days? The oblique is in the abdomen

I believe the word oblique is referring to the angle of the kick, not the target

Have trained at multiple gyms in Thailand (two in Chiang Mai and one in Phuket) and I can confirm they do and teach it.

Other TMAs also teach it, tkd and karate for certain. It’s not considered bad budo in high level comp or in self defense.

Rules dictate what is and isn’t budo in a sport. No one can point to someone who’s career ended from it that I know of. Sure, there are a few like rampage whose knee was never the same, but I know people who can say the same about dozens of other legal and not frowned upon techniques

All kicks should be legal.

Learn how to defend it.

People don’t like it but it’s true. Nobody has been able to solve it. If we think about every technique that has ever graced MMA, almost every one has been figured out.

I also think kicks and knees go a grounded opponent should be ok and headbuts too.

I think stops to the head in the cage are a no go but the rest is ok.

And id like to add that any legal strike can cripple or end someone’s career. Joe Valtelinni had to retire after a fight that he won due to severe lasting concussion symptoms. He had to sit in a dark room for 2 weeks to keep from getting vertigo. I think hes commentating now and last i heard was still dealing with head problems. That fight was 10 yrs ago.

TJ Grant had to retire from a concussion in training when he was supposed to fight for the title.

Anything can end your career in the fight world.

Told you

Also, oblique kicks to the knee has never ended anyone’s career.

Dig,respect, all is fair.for this is an agree to disagree point for me,and just my personal opinion as someone who’s been training for many decades.as a lifelong long martial artist the biggest thing to me now is injury ,above all else(techniques,$,status, rank, ego etc).so any action that will prevent this ,is taboo for me,for i hold the spirit of a lifelong martist as the highest goal.i understand others not holding this as anythiing of value at all.but now, as an elder, this is my view.respect it or not for both sides are correct, their is no rt or wrong on this topic.only consequenses…
