I wish Ken wouldnāt have gone to the WWF when he did and fucked up his body more.
It did help bring more attention to MMA, but we also missed out on a couple more years of prime Ken.
Ken vs Coleman and Ken vs Tank are 2 fights I wanted to see.
.
Dude ā¦
Iām a dumbass.
For some reason I thought you were talking about Frank Shamrock. I was thinkingā¦ I would have known if he fought Bas in kickboxing lol.
IMO UFC and MMA might not exist now if Ken Shamrock didnāt spend a couple of years in WWF.
Highest buy rate ever at that point and started an upward trend in buys from there. But Iāve always said that I donāt think its possible to calculate the huge number of WWF fans that werenāt willing to part with cash for UFC40 so werenāt counted in the buy rates, but pirated it, both live and in the next few months after release.
It didnāt just make Tito a wider star, it exposed those fans to Chuck (who won by KO) and Hughes (who won by TKO), and Lawler (who won by KO).
For that alone, Ken deserves more credit and a higher status in the sport.
Iāve actually met a handful of people who straight-up told me the first Ken/Tito fight made Ken Shamrock their favorite fighter ā and for a couple of them, it was one of their first introductions to MMA!
No joke.
I realize itās completely anecdotal ā but something about that losing effort endeared Ken to at least a certain percentage of people.
I donāt count because Iāve been following this thing from the beginningā¦
But itās interesting to hear what some people gravitate towards and respect/appreciate.
