Immortal Scoffs at Jones’ Legacy becoming Tainted if he Doesn’t Fight Aspinall

That is such a non money fight.

You can make moral arguments that fighting Tom is the “right thing” for Jon to do because interim and defend or vacate. But you can’t make an argument that it is wasting a big money spectacular fight the world needs to see

Because that isn’t nowhere close to the biggest payday if him life. Bob is a nobody. Lol

lol right… Jon fighting to unify the HW title in a fight that is trending #1 in UFC discussion. The buildup is huge.

Nobody cares about Stipe.

He’s a rising star, but the reason the fight would be huge is because lot of people think he can beat Jon, want to see Jon lose, and it’s to unify the HW title.

TBH, the more time that has gone on the more discussion about this fight is happening, the bigger it’s getting, it’s looking like Jon is a duck which is even more intriguing. Also, the UK market is looking for a new superstar.

One thing is for certain, nobody gives a shit about Stipe in 2024 and Jon is taking the smaller fight because he scurred.

This is the first time Jon is the underdog in his entire career:

In the aftermath of the win, Aspinall is now a -150 favorite to defeat Jones (+130) according to online sportsbook BetOnline — a far cry from where the odds sat in July 2023, which had Aspinall listed as a +170 underdog and Jones as a -200 favorite. Aspinall, 31, is 7-1 in the UFC heavyweight division since 2020.

So let me get this straight.

If you put 1000$ on tom to win at -150

You would definitely lose 1000$

Youre right no one cares about stipe…

I watched Stefan struve whip his ass in the sheriff’s back yard.

IMO Aspinall would finish Jones. They both have belts but Jones wants nothing to do with Aspinall. Jones wants the older guy that has not fought in a long while and had some really hard last fights.

A side note though - Is it just me or does Aspinall looke like a Easter Island Statue come to life?

Maybe it is just the chin.

These are the same type of guys Aspinall beats. All of Aspinall’s wins are against guys at Gane’s level or worse.

More people care about Stipe than Tom.

Tom is this week’s version of what Gane was before he fought Francis.

Stipe is a guy many people think is the best hw of all time. Those people are wrong, but the story that sells that is “the greatest of all time goes up a weight class to fight the greatest hw of all time”

Jones vs Tom has the selling power of Jon vs OSP. The story there is “Jon fights another top contender who will likely fade into obscurity after that fight”

Morally, he should fight Tom instead of putting the division on hold.

Also, in some moral sense, Jon should have to stay active and fight top contenders until time beats him down enough that he starts losing to them like all the other greats who aren’t gsp and Khabib. We are owed watching Jon lose to a guy who will be another champ who loses as many as he wins, like happened to BJ and Anderson.

That doesn’t mean it’s a money fight.

Agreed… If it was boxing he would have lost his belt.

Blaydes, Spivac and Tybura are all solid grapplers and all true HW’s… even Volkov and Pavlovich to a lesser extent. Tom finished all of them.

Jon has beaten nobody that qualifies at both of those things.

I know you didn’t type that with a straight face

Blaydes is the best wrestler in the division, Spivak has the third most td’s UFC hw history and many wins via submission as does Tybura who is a BJJ black belt.

His legacy is secure as the greatest LHW of all time whatever happens at heavyweight.

He’s not been a heavyweight nearly long enough to be in the discussion for GOAT heavy.

The fact he’s largely demolished everyone he fought despite having no power in his hands is crazy.

I think Jones beats Aspinall if he fights him now. If we wait too long and Jones starts to get old then it won’t count as much. But the way he beat Game makes me think he would do something similar to Aspinall albeit in a slightly longer timeframe. No more than 3 rounds though. But jones is on the cusp so it has to be now.

His legacy is tainted by fighting like a fag imo.
