I’m confident there’s a price Bones will agree to if Dana thinks there’s a public appetite for an Aspinall fight. I think Bones vs Aspinall looks like Bones vs Gane. Rag doll. Choke. Win.
Aspinall is a good rep for the sport and seems like an awesome guy. I wish him all the success in the world, but I don’t think he has anything Bones hasn’t already seen in the gym a million times.
Bones vs Poatan is a more compelling match up for me. Poatan is good at controlling distance, counter striking, TD defense, and a range of offensive attacks. Bones may also easily walk through him, but Poatan has the better skill set and experience to potentially make it a competitive fight.
But I’m usually wrong so hopefully Aspinall gets his fight.

tough to agree on the skillset part when there isn’t anyone with less wrestling than him. but i’m not gonna act like i’m too cool to get super pumped on a jj vs poatan fight. cuz i’d be stoked on it.
just don’t think it would be as competitive as a tom fight.

Overeem fucked Jones up on the regular in the gym. There’s a reason why shortly after Alistair left the UFC is when Jones officially announced his move to HW. Add in the fact that the HW division is on par with the late 90s in terms of talent with Aspinall and Stipe being the exceptions? It’s clear as day why Jones is dicktucking on this fight and has been.

Jon has handled this so badly that theres no way it doesnt get brought up when people discuss his legacy in future. All this “nobody will remember in 10 years” stuff is BS. If he had kept more quiet or better still not tried to hold up a division by being paper champ it wouldnt have been this bad, but he just keeps digging the hole deeper with all these pathetic rationalizations for why hes scared of getting his ass beat.
