We didn’t get to see Jones actually mix it up with true killers at HW – and it looks like we never will.
Gane didn’t bother showing up.
Stipe is 42, coming off a loss, and hasn’t fought in 3 years.
Jones isn’t a big power puncher on the feet.
Had he mixed it up with the stacked UFC HW division when he was able to, we could have seen him actually move around and trade with these guys. See how he looked vs bigger heavier grapplers, with Jones carrying more weight around himself.

I personally think that had he been active enough to get a good sample size, he would have won some and lost some.

Jones did move up. He is champion in the UFC. Fedor tried to step up and stop fighting cans and got his head kicked in. He was a charlatan
Yep that is why an olympic wrestler like DC couldnt take him down, but Gusto (who is not known for his grappling) had no problem taking Jon down.
Jon has looked average against every person his size minus Gane that barely fougjt as you mentioned.
And it is known that in training Overeem got the better of Jon.

He literally was quoted saying he would only fight Francis if more money were involved BECAUSE of the risk. He literally admitted he might lose.
Then Francis leaves the UFC to box for big money and instantly Jon is magically now ready for HW.
