Prime Anderson vs. Alex Pereira at 185

How does this go?

I used to always count him out, as he’s my favorite fighter and I’d always count him out for fear of him losing…However, I’ve gotten older and wiser.

I don’t think anyone would beat Silva in his prime at MW

Really dangerous fight, Alex doesnt waste movements and can kill.

Prime Anderson was a spectre that couldn’t be touched, but could get taken down pretty easily.

With Alex’s length, strength, power, and tactics I think maybe he puts Anderson to sleep. Would have made for an incredible matchup.

As good as Anderson was in his prime I could see him losing to Alex but I would never bet on it.

I’ll never pick against Anderson.

Serious Anderson ala the Vitor fight would show up IMO

Anderson wins against the Pereira who fought at 185. The one who beat and lost to Izzy. The Pereira who has since moved up to light heavyweight, too close to call. Alex has improved quite a bit since the Izzy knock out loss.

He’d piece Alex apart

Prime anderson beat a truly legendary line up of all time greats. And aside from chael, made it look pretty damn easy. He would beat perriera at 185. At 205? Much closer.

Anderson was faster but we saw a 40 something Anderson get out slicked by a young Adesanya. Anderson was head and shoulders above most the guys he fought in striking. That would not be the case against Alex. Anderson is probably my pick for the greatest ever at any weight but I think this is a very tough match up for him.

AP leaves a lot of openings and isn’t super fast. He is also aggressive, which would get him blasted.

3 Andersons that fought Stylebender would have been beaten at the same time by prime
Anderson and one of them was enough to give it a really close fight.

Hard to say.

Silva is more slick but Pereira seems to have more sparring time in training sessions. I would give an edge to AP due to this but who knows…

I’m sure Shannon The Cannon sparred a lot too, not sure how that’s relevant to the discussion here

High level sparring against elite mma fighters and olympic calibre boxers. You don’t think this counts for anything?

Silva came up through chutebox who sparred like actual fights. Not great for longevity, but great for burning bright. He trained with the pride 205 champ and the 205 Grand Prix champ.

Also, as we have seen a million times, pure kickboxing guys often lose to less pure mma strikers.

Hard to say as pereira truly has the touch of death. I’d probably pick Anderson at 185 but I can’t imagine a scenario where Anderson beats him at 205. Pereira is much bigger, hits much harder, and is probably the more technically sound striker. I would pick pereira at 185 as well but I believe the weight cut kills him.

Yes but Pereira is not a pure kickboxer, he’s a mma striker now in the true sense of the word, training with elite athletes from all over.

I also think that he has better fundamentals than Anderson.

Silva used to box with cuban olympians dude, what are you on?

100% not, compared ot prime silva, speed power and lethality. Alex leaves the fight to hospital if he throws aggresively.

I actually think Silva may have been better at 205, especially against non wrestlers. We didn’t get to see enough to say that for certain, but it sure seemed that way.
