Every MMA discipline has shit that isn’t applicable in a self defense / MMA setting. You can definitely cut your opponent off without a corner. Watch Nate Diaz and do the opposite of that.
Mirko was past his prime when he lost that fight. Not sure what point you’re trying to make here.
It happens to everyone eventually if you stay past your physical prime. Either age, mileage, or both make you vulnerable enough to lose to lesser competition.
It happened to boxer Ray Leonard at 34 when he lost to Terry Norris. No way he loses that fight in his prime, but he wasn’t the same guy at that stage.
Honestly i think the Gonzaga loss played a factor in his poor performances in the UFC for awhile.
I think losing like that fucked with him a bit. He was very gun shy for awhile after that and didnt use his kicks (his best weapon) nearly as much for awhile.
Then he seemed to eventually find his old ways again and its undeniable that he had an impressive resurgence near the end of his career.
He also fell really weird on his leg from the Gonzaga KO and ive always wondered if there was an injury there and maybe that played a part in him refraining from kicks for awhile.
Just my opinion, i could be wrong as this is all speculatory.
I wouldnt rule out Cain KOong Cro. He hits hard and was very explosive. Cro would be worried about the takedown and Cain could fake ontop life Randleman did
Not really. Any time he ever got KO’d it was with an absolutely fucking BOMB until much later years.
Fedor BLASTED him in their fight and didn’t KO him. The randleman punch was out of nowhere and he didn’t see it and still didn’t go completely out until 1000 hammerfists from a person made out of every steroid there was. The Gonzaga KO he didn’t see the kick coming and it was a hard kick. He didn’t get KO’d a lot in K1 either.
Cain never reached prime. He had fantastic potential, but he’d get injured. A lot. He had something like 5 surgeries all over the place in 5 years. That said, Cain loved his sloppy striking and I think this fantasy fight would end with Mirko knocking him out with punches.
