Couture is the most overrated fighter from that era. Rampage rolls his ass.

What is Randy’s era?

Didn’t watch video.

Is this a hypothetical peak vs peak question?

Randy could potentially have gotten the job done if he fought a great wrestling heavy fight, but I think the most likely scenario is Rampage nullifies his wrestling effectively enough to knock him out.

Didn’t watch the video:

IMO: It would be a boring fight with Randy controlling Rampage on the cage.

Rampage had enough wrestling that he could use his athleticism to over power Randy in almost any situation…On the feet, Jackson was light years ahead of Randy in the striking department. I just don’t see Randy beating a prime Rampage

Peak Rampage was in Pride, and briefly looked good in the UFC before he became a plodding headhunter.

Peak Couture is harder to pin down, but since Rampage was mostly a LHW that would be around 03/04 for Couture, when he was beating Chuck and Tito.

In a ring it’s a no-brainer for Rampage.

In a cage it gets interesting.
I wouldn’t ever count Couture out in a cage, especially vs someone close to his size.
Randy could clinch up and use the fence to stifle even bigger stronger grapplers.
And he always has a game plan that he stuck to.

That said since it’s peak vs leak, we might as well be talking about a title fight, which is 5 rounds.
That works in Jackson’s favor IMO, because Couture would need all 5 rounds to grind out a decision – while Rampage only needs one significant exchange to end it.

Rampage was very strong in the clinch, and unlike Tito extremely dangerous in transition and off breaks.

I can see Couture kind of neutralizing Rampage for a couple rounds, especially if he gets the takedown against the fence.
But in a 5 round right I would favor Jackson to force a couple exchanges and land something at some point.
I also think if they spend a lot of time clinching against the fence, Jackson’s strength would sap Couture’s energy, and that would be a factor in the championship rounds.

I don’t know that Jackson would just come out and mug Couture for an early finish.
It’s possible, but I think Couture is usually going to be too savvy to let that happen.

In a ring – huge advantage Rampage.

In a cage – advantage Rampage.

I lost money 100% of the time betting for/against Randy. So, I’m not a good one to ask on predicting his wins/losses.

I finally bet on him against Brock. Lol

But, if you look at some of these wins. Would you have predicted him to beat these fighters?

Victor (2x)
Randleman
Pedro Rizzo
Chuck
Tito
Tim Sylvia
Gonzaga
Brandon Vera
Coleman

Page didn’t even train for that fight lol

Didn’t know you was in his camp

With Rampage you never knew who was gonna show up. Sometimes he looked like a destroyer, other times his head clearly wasnt in it.
With Randy, you knew exactly who was in that cage.
