I don’t think there is any denying he is a very capable man. Not sure of this drama, but obviously really lame if true. If what ppl claim he says about 2A is true, that is the ultimate lame. He’s definitely addicted to fame but I still respect him for often trying to do what he believes is the right thing.
I watched a recent video of him at some combat fitness event and he was shooting against some no name civilian and I hate to say it, but Tim’s shooting did not look good. Ppl tend to forget that civilians are the best in the world in specific skill sets. But when you see some SF stud get really humbled in something like pistol shooting combat fitness, it’s almost like watching a figure skater fall. That said he has real world combat experience which is very different than even simulated shooting events, so he’s still a stud in my book, but it was a bummer to see what looked like some mediocre shooting. Maybe I am too used to watching some serious wizards with their pistol like Ben Stoeger.
First time he was on Jocko’s podcast (maybe only time) he came across as the ultimate wannabe tough guy douche bag… which he isn’t so it made it even worse.
I don’t know Tim personally but I know one of the guys that he has served with as a sniper. The guy I know said he absolutely loves Tim Kennedy as a person but he hates the celebrity Tim Kennedy. I mentioned to Tim one time when I saw him at an open mat here in Austin years back that we might have a common friend and he very clearly knew who I was talking about and he kind of became more of a relaxed guy at that time.
Also, completely unrelated and I don’t think he knew who I was when he pulled up, but I was wearing a shirt that was given to me at a veterans jiujitsu class that I was in. I didn’t serve in the armed forces but I was helping out with the guys there and they gave it to me after. Anyhow, I was just walking to a coffee shop in my neighborhood and completely randomly Tim Kennedy and another jacked guy that I’ve trained with that is Austin PD or State Troopers pulled up in their car just to stop and chat for 2 seconds. I think he assumed I had served because of the shirt and wanted to just say hi. Tim was a completely genuine human being there.
Figured this was worth sharing since everyone is trashing him.
Tim was a civilian at the time pulling a PR stunt. I recall social media comments from active duty troops who were there which were all some version of “fuck my life Tim fucking Kennedy is here.”
My dad was injured in Vietnam when his transport vehicle hit some kind of explosive device. Everyone but him was killed. He refused the purple heart, so I know that’s possible.
But they point out that Tim constantly takes pictures of himself, so it makes sense if he had ever been injured he’d have photo documentation of it.
