UFC lowers ticket prices

What was supposed to be a love letter to Mexican fight fans has turned into a Dana White vanity project, with a production price tag north of $20 million.

UFC 306 at The Sphere, also known as Noche UFC during Riyadh Season on Sept. 14 in Las Vegas, is headlined by the bantamweight title fight between reigning 135-pound kingpin Sean O’Malley — now the biggest star in UFC — and No. 1-ranked division contender Merab Dvalishvili.

Ticket prices opened at a staggering $3,000 apiece for nosebleeds, with premium seats running as high as $12,000. With less than two weeks until showtime, and several thousand seats still available (including resales), the lowest priced ticket now sits below $800.

And that gets you a “very limited view of Sphere screen.”

If the selling point is the Sphere screen and you can barely see it, then you’re paying premium prices for a regular UFC pay-per-view (PPV) event. It’s also worth noting that White recently reduced the gate estimate from $25-27 million to $21 million.

“Dana said today that there are about 1,700 tickets remaining for Noche UFC,” longtime reporter Kevin Iole wrote on Twitter. “Expects a sell-out and said the gate will be a UFC record $21 million. HUGE night for Nevada Athletic Commission with Canelo doing massive gate down the street.”

Boxing megastar Canelo Alvarez also competes on Sept. 14, throwing hands opposite Edgar Berlanga across town at MGM Grand. White insists he’s got no beef with Alvarez — who is no stranger to counter-programming UFC — but did have a bone to pick with the “douches” at MGM.

So is UFC 306 at The Sphere worth the price? Check out the finalized fight card RIGHT HERE and decide for yourself.

Having been to the sphere, I’m wondering how the fuck you can’t see the screen when it’s literally all around you. Or are they doing some bullshit with it.

I’ve been to a UFC event and they are fun but am I the only one who’d rather watch it at home?

Tickets are absolutely outrageous and I enjoy the experience at home much better

Maybe if it wasnt pandering to people that are destroying our country and had more than 3 good fights people would cough up the dough

I had great seats for the GSP vs Diaz fight in Montreal. I was on the floor about four rows from the cage and while the atmosphere was awesome the view wasn’t as good as expected due to the elevated cage.

Holding a fight card there is fundamentally different from a concert.

When U2 played there, they didn’t need to announce a setlist because fans knew the faggy U2 hits was going to be played.

With a fight PPV, you can’t just expect people to pay for a video screen gimmick when the actual card doesn’t match the hype.

I’m sure the fights will be good, but this had to be a UFC 100/200 level spectacle. A fucking PRIDE Shockwave level event.

I’ve been to both the very early UFC’s and the later ones. The later ones can’t compare. Front row used to be cheap and you were close enough to almost touch the cage.

I mean, 300 wasn’t even UFC 100/200 level so…

For 3 thousand I would rather get 2 hookers with the girlfriend experience while streaming the PPV imo

Lol hilarious they include resales lol like wtf.

Optimal sales strategy for an event will have you selling last tickets just before the event.

Maybe dana white finally figured that out.
