AI ranks top 10 athletes of all time; JBJ makes the list

Lennox Lewis was damn good. Never liked him but he was real good and undefeated

Edited . He lost to Rahman

Having a Golfer over Phelps as a better athlete on that list is hilarious!

And Oliver McCall although he avenged both of those defeats.

He only lost because he was a notoriously unmotivated later in his career. He smoked Rahman in the rematch

Relevant, but less so than peak ability.

It’s not enough to get him close to Jordan.

Winning titles in the NBA on three different teams is impressive. How many stars have done it?

But so was the equipment. I saw both Jack and Tiger live in their primes. If I had them play one hole for a million bucks of my money … I’d take Jack.

But it’s not disingenuous at all.

IMO the GOAT in any combat sport is generally the guy who can kick the most asses.
They aren’t hitting golf balls or shooting hoops – it’s a fight.

I don’t care if you’re 150-0 with 150 KOs – if you’re 150 lbs, you ain’t the GOAT.

That’s why Ali is the GOAT in my book.
The greatest HW fighter will always be the greatest fighter in my mind.

He wasn’t undefeated.

He also got KO’d twice by lesser fighters.
But he did avenge those losses.

I also think he was on his way to a loss vs Vitali.

But I digress… Lewis is one of the best HWs ever. But Ali has more GOATness IMO.

Because he was bouncing around trying to make different superteams in an effort to chase Jordan.

Minimal points for that one lol.

It is disingenuous. You know that an all-time welterweight isn’t beating an all-time heavyweight. So why ask me? Additionally, we both know how that conversation plays out.

When you state it as your opinion it’s not disingenuous.

Most people don’t evaluate the greatest boxers the way you’re doing it. They are usually rated relative to their weight classes.

Even if you do it your way, I’m not sure if prime for prime Ali beats Joe Louis. I think Louis probably wins. As far as how they are rated, they are both often rated as the greatest heavyweight.

Ali is not the consensus best heavyweight let alone the consensus best boxer.

That’s because they are using flawed logic.

The whole P4P thing is overrated IMO.

It seems to assume that the more skilled little guy would get to retain all of his attributes just in a bigger body.

Doesn’t work that way.

He was definitely on his way to a loss after he slumped onto his stool after putting almost everything he had into KOing the older Klitsckho brother in the 6th.

Lewis was saved by a corrupt Doctor after Vitali’s team had stopped the bleeding and retired rather than giving him his rightfull rematch.

Lewis is definitely one of the greatest heavyweights in Boxing history though

I’m with you in that the more skilled little guy wouldn’t retain all of his attributes as he got bigger. I don’t think pound-for-pound rankings assume that they would though.

I mean Jack was playing with steel shafts and persimmon head drivers, only 1 kind of wedge and inferior, out of round golf balls. You really can’t compare the two.

Where is Jerry Rice?

Where is Maradona?

Where is Karelin?

Who do you think wins in a hypothetical match, prime jack or prime tiger?

In my opinion if Jack had Tiger’s modern equipment plus all his other modern benefits I would favour Jack although it would be very competitive.

However if they both played with golf clubs from Jack’s day it wouldn’t be as competitive IMHO.

Everything is set even - same clubs, same access to training etc…

It was basically foregone conclusion that Tiger was going to blow out Jack’s major championship record before tiger’s life completely imploded in just about every way.

I’ll take prime tiger in that one.
