I was equating Golf majors to NBA championships in that point as in it’s the primary determinant of a person’s success in those sports.

There have definitely been more skilled boxers than Ali.

But there are factors to consider.

-His impact on culture, the things he did outside the ring as a person were pretty epic.

-He became so popular that he transcended the sport itself.

Most ppl that arent into boxing probably havent heard of Ray Robinson, Joe Louis, Rocky, etc.

EVERYONE knows who Ali is.

Sport specifically Lebron has more points. Athletically it isn’t particularly close.

There are centers who could compete with Wilt. Get a top 5/6 center all time with Jordan on your team, and you’re still doing great.

There’s a bigger drop-off between Jordan and the next best shooting guard.

I would argue Jordan has the biggest gap of all 5 positions.

If you’re asking people who know about boxing, more will say Ray Robinson than Ali. If you are stopping your average person on the street, then maybe Ali takes it.

Ali himself said that Ray Robinson was the GOAT, but that he, himself, was the heavyweight GOAT.

List definitely has some people in it that should be.
But it should do it for each sport.

Sir Donald Bradman should be in there.
Nobody will ever do what he did in cricket.
Djokovic? Most titles.
What about Phelps? Who’s doing what that guy did?
