If Jones fights Tom and it ends like every other Jones fight, is he the goat or does that mean Tom was never that good?

Imo if he actually takes and wins that fight it completely solidifies him as the GOAT beyond all doubt. All things considered Tom (or Ngannou) would arguably have been Jons most impressive win outside of DC, but hes now avoided both while at the same time still wanting to fuck around at HW and pretend to be the champ because of his ego.

I think it’s pretty clear Jones will fight Tom. Seems to me he’s just playing Dana for a big pay day first. If he didn’t want to fight Tom, he retires after Dana said the winner fights Tom next. He just knows how to negotiate.

I hope Jones fights Tom and I’ll be cheering for Tom because the alternative is the guy who lost to the champ goes on to be the champ which dilutes the division.

But most likely Tom gets over zealous, blitzes and gets tossed then stopped. People here will use it as evidence Tom was never very good and Jones hand picked another opponent.

GSP beat the WW GOAT before he was. He beat one of the best LW’s , who also had a win over the then WW GOAT. He beat every top contender and also had a close win that was controversial to some. Then he came out of retirement to win the belt in the weight class above him. His losses were avenged spectacularly.

Jones has a great resume too. GSP’s is better to me.
