Is Jon hurting his legacy in your eyes?

No, he isnt and never will be. The GOAT doesnt cheat, fight dirty, beat his wife, and run from the best. He is the best because he fights the best and takes on whoever is on top.

He doesnt take years off to avoid competition or beat up on old fighters for imaginary legacy clout.

Being undefeated doesnt necessarily make you the greatest; most ppl pick Ali and not Marciano or Mayweather because he transcended the sport, he fought at a time where there were many greats around him and he fought them. He did not run from them.

Ill say it again, NO ONE has more asterisks behind their career than Jon. He shouldnt even be in the conversation anymore.

Ppl fought much more often back then and sometimesmore than once a night, so a few filler fights mean nothing. Fedor has more wins than Jon has fights.

How often has Jon fought the last few years?

Better than beating up smaller older guys with eye pokes then calling yourself the GOAT lol.

Jon was gifted multiple decisions against mid level guys, not legends. Fedor lost to fellow legends.

Hongman Choi is a giant and legit kickboxer.

Starting with his first Pride fight Fedor fought 22 times in 7 years, hardly dropping a round, against a murderers row of opponents.

A couple freak show fights mixed in doesn’t really take away from his run.

Hell…

Fedor has more finishes than Jones has fights.

Imagine fighting someone for a title that is only good at kickboxing and has no ground game, then beating him and calling yourself the GOAT…oh wait…lol.

At least Choi showed up to fight.

Yeah Choi gets slept on by a lot of casuals because of his MMA record, so they dont realize in kickboxing he was a monster fighting in an insanely stacked division in K-1.

K-1 around that time honestly was one of the most deeply talent-stacked pools ive ever seen; insane talent on that roster.

There’s always a couple accounts who are the contrarians for specific fighters.

Some people throw around the word “can” too loosely.

I wouldn’t even call Ogawa a can.

Zulu, Nagata… Ok.

Jones is taking some big L’s.

Easy for you to say, but you don’t have his bills, and you don’t know what pressure he was under to fight.

I wish a lot of injured dudes didn’t fight, it rarely works out for them.

Most people couldn’t leg press two plates after the knee surgeries he had, let alone fight and beat an undefeated dude on his way up.

You drop that Jones into the 2005 GP and I don’t think he keeps his undefeated record, even if he IS the best 205er ever. Especially if he had to fight twice in one night. He’s a massive game planner with coaches in a war room, that shit goes out the window in that kind of environment.

Yep. He really put it to the guy who got
Choked out by Eric Spicely with that split decision

There’s also the fact other supposed best evers lost to basically cans along the way.

Silva lost to fucking ryo
Chonnan by flying heel
Hook.

GSP lost to Matt Serra. At heavyweight, even fighting cans, you risk getting taken out. So for Fedor to beat a couple of cans, giant freak k1 kickboxer AND a bunch of legit pride and UFC champs is amazing and hasn’t been replicated since.

Jones beat more champs.

And he didn’t get beat up by a MW

Thiago Santos was a middle weight who lost to plenty of other middle weights.

Jones didn’t beat as many heavyweight champs.

Yeah but no but

Jon hasn’t lost. He beat everyone . And didn’t get ironed out by a middleweight.

He couldn’t beat Matt Hamilll straight up and took a loss for his troubles

Has there ever been a more cowaradly championship fight in UFC history?

The champ fighting the #8 instead of the Interim belt holder?
