It was also a very disinterested Jones. Everybody had written Gus off to the point that even Jones probably didn’t have a ton of motivation to fight a guy nobody gave a fuck about at the time. That fight also shows Jones is high level and won’t quit, and that Gus is a wilter, which showed in his other fights.
You saw what happened in the rematch, absolute obliteration.
He tried to go to heavyweight and got crushed, Jones went up and has dominated these guys. Gus quit fighting at 35 after losing to D level Krylov, Jones is still crushing folks.

Not disputing that Jones is a lion. Not disputing that Gustafson is a wilter. But that fight showed Jon’s weaknesses and the roadmap to victory. Especially now because Jon is slower at heavyweight.
