New Rickson Gracie Vid: The Art and Science of Invisible Jiu-Jitsu

You guys have heard me talk about Jiu-Jitsu ad nauseum but what you may not have heard me talk too much about is the often-overlooked invisible form of the martial art that has taken over the world of MMA and combat sports. This is not about submitting or disabling an opponent on the mats but how the lessons learned on the mats apply to your everyday life.

I can think of no better person to share his knowledge and depth of experience than one of the toughest men in the “First Family” of Jiu-Jitsu, Rickson Gracie. Today, Rickson and I talk about managing fear, how to find a mission more important than your life, how to keep your identity secure although you may lose one element of who you are, the importance of a balanced approach to being a warrior, why base on the mats and off is so crucial, and the power of respecting and honoring your intuition.

Daughters, Kauan and Kaulin.

He’s a recent grandfather.

Losing Rockson so young, in such a terrible way, and the grief and depression that both he and Kron had to deal with, contributed to their fractured relationship. It was just fucked up.

His Jiu Jitsu is so good he can beat people without fighting them. He can beat them with his aura.

Rickson is a master of marketing. He was great in BJJ but was much better making money. I wish I was half as good as him in either

This might be the only forum where you can find people questioning Rickson

There is literally no other place that I have seen it discussed with people acting civil with one another

I went to a Rickson seminar. He went around and shook every person’s hand, thanking them for being there. I had a few moments alone with him and asked him a few questions.

I asked him if he’s ever rolled with anyone better than him. He said yes, many times. I just defend and I wait and I wait. And then when they are tired, that’s when my Jiu Jitsu begins.

I asked him about getting older and doing Jiu Jitsu. He said as you get older, you focus more on breathing, patience and making sure you stay healthy. Don’t let young guys hurt you. Just protect and feel for that right time to start your Jiu Jitsu.

It was an amazing experience.

How much did you pay?

Was about 150 if I remember correctly. Two day seminar, but Rickson was only there for 1 day. Even in that respect it was awesome. Got meet a ton of super nice Jiu Jitsu folk.

However, I wouldn’t read too much into the pricing as it was about 10 years ago.

Id pay that for a 1 day seminar and a handshake with Rickson. He has done some things that I don’t like but all in all he is a legend. I only wish I got to see him peak latter in mma and bjj

Tim
Is it possible that after the handshake he would call that a win on his record???

@WinstonWolf imagine Rickson vs Dan Henderson or Dave Menne

I would pay big money to watch that

id have liked to see Rickson against some top guys But it is passed
