One of my customers has hung out with him since the 90’s and said he had A LOT to say about the Tyson Jake Paul bullshit.

He’s a local legend, dude never moved away, probably still fights chickens, is a regular dude you can run into at Walmart or wherever.

Nobody has ever had reflexes like him. If he came up in today’s social media, he would be a fucking BILLIONAIRE.

Roy Jones Jr. in his prime was something else.

Of all the crazy shit Roy did in the ring, the most mind bottling thing to me is the one where he waits for his opponent to jab, but before it lands Roy hits him with a jab and straight right hand.

It’s in the vid in the op toward the end. I’m too lazy to time stamp it. But every time I see it it blows my mind. Before the guy can land one punch, Roy lands two.

It’s the example of what Roy would have been like if had boxed traditionally, without all the awesome shuck and jive stuff. I think he probably needed the fancy shit to be at the riddum he wanted to be at. But you have to wonder if he had applied his natural gifts to a more boring, traditional style.

Roy Jones was incredible. We’ll probably never see anything like him again. I feel fortunate to have grown up watching him. My older brother was heavily into boxing and had a bunch of the Jones fights taped.

The shit his dad did to him made him a machine.

When he was 132 years old. Lol. That limey couldn’t sniff rjj’s jock in his prime. Stop deluding yourself.

The Pazienza fight was magic. I remember watching it live. Who else could throw 3 left hooks as fast as RJJ? Nobody damnit!

Prime RJJ was probably a top 5 most talented athlete at their given sport period. On the Jordan level.

Roy was the shit!! He was also really good at extending his reach. The way he would turn his shoulders could keep him out of range with most people and he could still get to them.

I hoped and thought Toney would beat him as I was also a big Lights Out fan. Was sad when he lost.

Got knocked out in his prime by a lightweight gatekeeper.

That would be like Roy Jones in '99 getting knocked out by Buddy Mcgirt lol.

Not read any of thread but wanted to get this off my chest:

He is not any better a boxer than many, MANY others. He just had a speed/athleticism advantage!

Speed and athleticism are a pretty damn big part of being a great boxer.

Nobody in Jones’ size range had anything for him in his prime.

The most dominant p4p fighter that ever lived.

Yeah I am not debating any of that shit. I’m saying he has that highlight reel due to having a huge athletic advantage! Not for being “better at boxing”.

Yeah… fundamentally he broke a lot of rules which is why his style didn’t age well. He tailored his entire style around his godly athletic prowess.

I rate Spinks higher at LHW than RJJ. He cleaned out the division. RJJ left unanswered questions.

My nigga he beat maybe two guys at LHW lol
