Synopsis

There was once a man named Gary Shaw, father of the world renowned son a of a millionaire playa named $kala.

Gary shaw was a second tier boxing promotor who saw an opportunity to break into the world of MMA. He starts a promotion called EliteXC. They put on a few shows with some big, but aging stars along with some up amd coming names like Kimbo Slice and Gina Carano. In short time they get some traction. Using his connections, shaw gets Elite XC on broadcast network CBS in prime time. The main event is scheduled to be a heavyweight matchup between Ken Shamrock vs. Kimbo Slice.
Just before the show starts, ken shamrock (allegedly) was cut during warm ups.
So a last minute replacment was found in light heavyweight veteran Seth petruzelli to take on Kimbo Slice.
In the first minute of the fight Kimbo bull rushed petruzelli as petruzelli shuffles back and off center, during this intial rush, petruzelli throws an off balance shot while backing up that clips Kimbo on the chin. KOing him and sinking both Kimbos aura of invincibility and Elite Xc.

There, thats what happened. Live on CBS.

Caught half of it earlier, obviously I remember a lot of this stuff but had forgotten it in time and it’s a nice trip down memory lane back to a better era of MMA

Yes you can there was someone in the crowd, I beleive part owner alongside Gary Shaw.

You could see this guy his name and role slips me, but when he witnesses Seth KO Kimbo…

Everyone else is there going crazy wild and, he’s just standing their like Roy Orbison caught in the headlights.

He knew they were fackin DONE.

In…

This will be wicked, MMA On Point is on point indeed.

Edit it was Gary son lolllll hilarious.

They also bought up like 5 other orgs and got there names and all rights. Super brawl. Rumble on the rock I think. And a few others.

The only guy that got bought out paid and then got his org and rights back was fucking terry from KOTC. Guys a fucking shark.

Those freak show fights were some of the most exciting fights back in the day. So much buzz about them. When Kimbo fought in EliteXC I could actually talk to super casuals at work about MMA. Kimbo getting dropped by Seth was hilarious but EliteXC wasn’t wrong to build the brand on freakshow fights. I believe the path to success for an MMA upstart is by having those fun fights that create massive buzz. PFL doesn’t get it. EliteXC was legitmately fun while it lasted.

Kimbo looked defeated on his way to the cage. I remember hearing that Seth was offered $$ not to throw any kicks. Kimbo basically went from knowing he had a chinny old man in front of him, to a guy who might actually fight back. It was over before it started.

Agreed EliteXC was really fun to watch back in the day.

Far more exciting than the vast majority of UFC cards have been for past decade IMHO.

I was more hyped about Kimbo vs Tank Abbot than I have been for probably 99.9% of UFC fights since they decided to oversaturate the market with quantity over quality.
