Typical douchebag TMA prick “sensei”. He has an UNRESISTING opponent and he he goes full-retard and cranks a technique.
I hope the pro wrestler stomped the shit out of that sensei…
yeah that doesn’t work
I love traditional martial arts.
But aikido sucks.
I studied some Hapkido when I was learning TKD, and had friend who was practicing Aikido at the local rec center. I know for a fact those joint locks work.
In fact, they were useful when I wrestle in high school by avoiding wrist control by simply going against their thumb. That was the trick to getting out of wrist grabs/wrist control.
if you have a wrestling base there’s couple little things that can work ok. but you’d be way better of in bjj, sambo, or judo.
Military hapkido rules self defense… Aikido has shitty joint manipulation which is the point of the art to begin with
there’s a sucker born every second
“Stand still for 2 seconds while I set up this throw”
They were nice enough to give him the start postion so he wouldn’t have to set it up, which is where Aikido fails hardest. Then he rips the moves so hard hell break their arms if they’re not fast enough to follow it.
I feel like some of these Aikido fags like Seagal are so rough because they know deep down it’s a fraud but if they can injure people it creates an illusion of effectiveness.
It’s always the pudgy nerds telling me how effective hapkido is
The first one is a variation on a straight armlock and the 3rd a standing americana, neither would work against someones whos been training for 6 months or a guy intent on causing you damage.
I love the way they look, but they’re just not practical unless you have a dance partner playing along.
It does have some nasty wrist locks though, but again you dont really see guys above purple belt getting wrist locked in bjj, and i have never seen one in mma.
It all depends how you practice. Hard randori shows you what does and doesn’t work. Aikido randori is a dance pretty much. But I’ve nearly lost teeth doing hard training.
My instructors were Koreans. They were skinny but athletic. I was the same way for a while.
My buddy took Aikido for years at the same time I was doing BJJ. He wanted to put on Gi’s one day and “spar”
I would grab his lapel and he’d try to do something but I’d just move with him. He couldn’t do shit.
He was pretty bummed out and I asked him why. He told me “none of it works” LOL. I told him it might work on a drunk 94 pound female if she stands still.
He didn’t laugh…
Had a couple friends that did aikido in high school. Another friend called it “rape defense” and one of the aikidoers kicked him in the nutts hard enough for him to throw up
He’s an idiot that needs to find a real instructor
One of our hapkido guys did judo and did shoulder and neck manipulations on the judoka all the time. But we have a good instructor
