Because that’s the fight that’s been scheduled. It’s an ex hw champion, perhaps the best the UFC has had, or a guy who has had zero wins as UFC champ

The fight has been scheduled since before tom was fake champion
Tim has beat one ex champ in 150 yr old arlovski. Jones is the goat. He does what he wants, which is honor the fight with stipe
At this point in time what Jon and Stipe have done is pretty meaningless. What this weekends fight really is is a guy who has had two fights in 5 years and one fight ever at HW vs a guy well into his 40s who was last seen in March 2021 getting flatlined.
I dont know why anyone would support it in any way. Its not even a Jon hate thing, or a Tom fanboy thing, its just the UFC being a fucking joke making shit illogical fights. Remember when boxing used to get mocked by MMA fans for this kind of stuff? this is actually worse than most of the stupid shit that happens in boxing too. They’ve got Fury/Usyk and we’ve got this shit.

Jon’s legacy is forever tarnished from steroids, drug use, arrests, more steroids, picograms, testosterone cheating, running over pregnant ladies, beating his wife in front of his children, and literally hiding from USADA. He’s disqualified from the goat conversation like Barry Bonds in baseball.
But, somehow, after all of that, this blatant ducking of the interim champion and trying to cherry pick seems to tarnish his legacy the most.
