I still don’t understand why we didn’t see Jones vs Aspinall last night.
He’s the active interim champion and obvious no.1 contender.
Why was Jones allowed to duck him and fight a 42 year old who hasn’t fought in over 3 years and hasn’t won a fight in 4 years?
Since when did the UFC allow fighters to duck no.1 contenders that they don’t want to fight?

IMHO Stipe should have been smarter and asked for a warm up fight first to see where his level was at after more than 3 and half years being inactive.
Also why was Jones allowed to just sit out and be inactive for 18 months after beating Gane last March? As a champion why was he not made to defend the belt or be stripped?
The UFC is an absolute joke.

Jones will fight whoever. Just wants $$ for the harder fight. It’s not a big PPV fight (UK is not a PPV market) so he needs high guaranteed comp.
I’ll explain it to you, Jon beat gane and called out stipe. The fight was signed. Injuries and delays made it happen last night. Tom wasn’t champ or number one contender when this fight was made.

This is someone that they had to redesign the gloves because of how much he eye poked. The gloves were redesigned because of Jones.

I don’t know the terms of the contracts signed but the UFC have cancelled many fights before so there would likely have been a way.
Jones beat Gane last March and Tom became interim champion in November. The obvious fight in make in 2024 first was Jones vs Aspinall.

Everyone seen last night the GOAT outside his first UFC run is a silly conversation. CG should be embarrassed of himself but he’s French so we should have known he would lay down and submit. Tom Smashes him.
