Jones thumbed Stipe in the eye

He is definitely notorious for extending his fingers as he reaches out range finding. And he has poked a lot of people as a result. That poke on stipe is something very different.

I don’t believe he is ‘dirty’ and actively trying to poke eyes. I think he is careless and reckless, and eye pokes have happened as a result. I think there is a difference.

Oblique kicks- I agree, they are pretty nasty, but I don’t see the point in banning them. It’s a fight after all.

Yeah, I’ve seen that. He does say the pokes are not intentional, but acknowledges it happens as a result of his technique. He is careless and reckless and is more concerned about avoiding getting hit than he is about potential pokes as a result of putting his hands out. It’s pretty shitty, but I still don’t think he is ‘intentionally’ eye poking. The stipe one especially.

I doubt its always intentional, but the way he said “its working” with that smirk makes me believe he either does it intentionally sometimes or as he said he knows how to do it and make it seem like its the other guy’s fault; which means hes aware but doesnt care.

Either way its a pretty dirty tactic. Id love to see how hed react if someone eye poked him.

In the Stipe fight i agree it didnt look like he did it on purpose when it happened on the feet. But on the ground he literally tried raking his fingers over Stipe’s eyes. Cant do that accidentally.

At this point Jones is so advanced he went for an eye poke that looks like a punch

Yeah pretty much. The smile says it all. He obviously knows what he’s doing. When you stick your hands out like that with fingers out carelessly, you will poke a lot of eyes. He’s a dirty fighter in more ways than one.

Anybody that had any kind of morality would realize they poked a person in the eye and adjust their style to avoid it. Instead Jones forces the UFC to allow him to use the old style gloves so he can continue.

If you analyze the tape on him you see that literally Jones offense and defense and transitions on the feet are based on using his fingers in his opponents eyes.

Yup. Like you, I am baffled that he is still allowed to get away with it, and that practically no one with any weight has mentioned it. It’s like a quiet, legal thing that will get people in deep shit for mentioning or something.

At this point it’s so insulting that no one has does such a breakdown I would donate $100 for a Jack Slack like breakdown of Jones eyepoke game

Lol its unintentional though

Also, didnt he make fun of DC for crying?

Yeah thats the one that really changed my opinion of Jones. But thats a highlight reel. I want to see a Jack Slack style breakdown of how Jones utilizes eyepokes, feinting eyepokes, covering his opponents eyes etc for offense and defense and transitions.

I want to see maybe a Henry Cejudo or Dan Hardy like breadown, they both have good breakdowns on their channels.

Showing how his long reach allows this to work. And how the UFC ignores it and goes out of their way to allow it.

A video like that if it done by a popular enough Youtuber would finally open people’s eyes about Jones dirty tactics (no pun intended)

He has an answer for that too. Member when he straight up covered Stipes eyes with his fingers?

Lol true, id still love to see one of his opponents wear a pair of goggles for their staredown with him. Just to fuck with him.

And close their eyes and headbutt his fingers to injure them. Or grab them and snap them. He deserves that.

Rampage is the only fighter I’ve ever seen even acknowledge it. He was slipping eyepokes and then complained to the ref

Id like to see his reaction if someone poked him back. Judging by how he acted when he and DC got into that fight at a presser, i doubt hed be happy about it.
